Theories, approaches & foundations

  • Developed by seasoned dieticians Elyse Resch (my wonderful supervisor) and Evelyn Tribole, Intuitive Eating is a therapeutic, evidence-based framework that is:

    • Weight inclusive by design

    • Grounded in clinical research and practice

    • Created to improve the relationship with food, eating and embodiment

Resch describes Intuitive Eating as“a dynamic interplay of instinct, emotion and thought.” It is build around 10 core ‘Principles’, each supporting you to:

    • Reattune to your interoceptive (internal bodily sensation) awareness

    • Explore your beliefs, emotions and inherited rules around food, eating and the body

Intuitive Eating is rooted in social justice and firmly opposed to diet culture.

In my therapeutic work, I draw on this framework to offer my clients practical, compassionate tools and points of enquiry as we gently examine and repair their relationship to their bodies.

  • Developed by psychologist, neuroscientist, and researcher, Dr Steven Porges, Polyvagal Theory maps three core states of the autonomic nervous system:

These states can also blend into the hybrid states of:

    • Curious Activity - Calm combined with Mobilisation

    • Relaxation - Calm combined with Immobilisation

    • The ‘Freeze’ stress response - Mobilised combined with Immobilisation

I draw on Polyvagal Theory to help my clients recognise their unique embodied sense of safety and threat - and, if they choose, to develop ways of befriending and regulating these states.

  • Embodied Styling is my unique approach to personal styling. It considers:

    • How clothing feels on the body

    • The emotions and associations clothes can evoke - in you, and in those around you

    • Comfort - defined on your terms - as a core priority

    • That understanding that there’s no single ‘right’ way to dress; it’s always contextual and personal

    • The awareness that how much value we place on appearance varies between people, and can shift over time

    This approach invites curiosity around:

    • How you currently perceive style

    • The feelings you hold about the way you dress right now

    • What truly matters to you when it comes to clothing

    • What your style might be communicating - and whether that matters to you

    • How you might experiment with intentional changes, if that feels right

Expect deep dive conversations, playful Pinterest dates, and unexpectedly practical adventures into the dressing up box.

“I feel I am at the beginning of a very meaningful process. ”

  • Interested in working together?
Let’s get together to see how we click.

I offer all potential clients a free 45 minute consultation - available online via Google Meet, in person at PLATF9RM (on select days) or over a delicious drink at Botanique.

Just fill out this form, and I will get back to you within one working week to arrange our meeting.

  • Our 45 minute consultation is your chance to share what you’d like support with - whether that’s reconnecting with your body; improving your relationship with food and eating; exploring personal style; or creating a bespoke, integrative approach tailored to you.

If we decide to work together, we begin with a Discovery Period: up to 6 pay-as-you-go sessions designed to explore, clarify, and ground your intentions.

  • During our Discovery Period we’ll take time to understand your current experiences, explore what you’re seeking support with, and agree on a meaningful departure point and focus for our Ongoing work together.

You’re welcome to up to 6 Discovery Sessions - all on a pay-as-you-go-basis - either booked one at a time or in a block. You can also experiment with session length and pacing to see what suits you.

I offer 1 hour, 90 minute or 2 hour sessions:

Scroll down to the next section of this website for pricing details.

  • The sixth and final Discovery Session is also our first Review.
This session set aside to reflect on how you’re experiencing our work so far , and to explore whether - and how - you’d like to continue.

If we choose to move forwards together, we’ll also use this session to co-create your first Ongoing Personalised Agreement. This outlines:

    • The length of your initial Ongoing Period

    • The frequency and duration of our sessions

    • The date of your next Review

    • The cost and Payment Plan

You can find more information about my Payment Procedure in the next section of this page.

  • Once your Agreement is signed, we’ll begin your first Ongoing Period - the phase where your journey into embodiment truly deepens.

As standard, sessions are paid for monthly in advance by bank transfer. If this monthly Payment Plan is not possible for you to commit to, I’m open to conversation and negotiation.

The final session of this first Ongoing Period will be our second Review. Together, we’ll reflect on your journey so far, assess the focus of our work, and adjust your Agreement as needed - including the length of your next Ongoing Period and the timing of your next Review.

If we feel our work together has come to it’s natural close, we can arrange an optional Closing Session to honour and integrate the process.

  • At the end of our time working together, you’re warmly invited to a Closing Session.

This is a space to celebrate your wins, reflect on what you’ve discovered, and - if relevant - gentle explore your transition into the next chapter of your self exploration story.

Sessions are priced on a sliding scale

  • I am able to offer one free place at a time for a client who cannot afford the lowest price of my reduced fee bracket.

While I would love to have more resources to support more clients who can’t afford to pay for my services, this is what I’m currently able to offer - and I hope to expand this in the future.

Although I’m glad to volunteer my time, I’m currently not in a position to cover additional costs such as room hire for in-person sessions at Projects, or expenses related to outcalls. For free sessions IRL, any such costs will need to be covered by the client.

  • I stand by The Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH)in affirming that health:

“…cannot be characterised as the absence of physical or mental illness, limitation, or disease. Rather, health exists on a continuum that varies with time and circumstance for each individual. Health should be conceived as a resource or capacity available to all regardless of health condition or ability level, and not as an outcome or objective of living. Pursuing health is neither a moral imperative nor an individual obligation, and health status should never be used to judge, oppress, or determine the value of an individual.”

I welcome clients whose physical, cognitive, emotional and/or circumstantial challenges impact their day-to-day life. However, please note that my work is not:

    • Medical model eating disorder treatment

    • Nutritional work with a dietician or nutritionist

    • Psychological support from a licensed mental health professional

    • Medical care from a physician

    • Crisis or emergency care

As a GSRD (gender, sex and relationship diversity) aware practitioner, my practice is:

    • Queer & trans affirming:

    • Kink & non-monogamy aware

I recognise the existence and harm caused by patriarchy and how this cultural structure negatively effects people of all genders and sexes.

I also acknowledge that people of colour continue to face widespread and intersecting forms of discrimination.

I offer sliding scale fees and hold one free slot in my schedule for those on low or no income.

My practice is open to people of all faiths, spiritual beliefs or lack of.

And - I acknowledge that as a human being, I am not free from error. I am committed to continually unlearning the ways in which my thinking, feeling and actions have been shaped by systemic social injustices.

I believe the current mainstream culture - in the UK at least, where I live - frequently teaches and promotes disconnection from our bodies, encouraging us to ignore or override their basic needs. My work - both therapeutic and stylistic - is my quiet act of peaceful protest.

    My cultural résumé:

I am a white, university educated, monogamous, femme, heteroflexible, ‘mid-size’, cis woman. I come from a working class background, and have personal experience of physical and mental illness and the harms of systemic oppression. I also hold many unearned privileges.
